10,000 Subscribers Later…

Happy new month!

I’m back from my two-week work excursion to China! It was a good trip and very well needed. Sometimes you just need to get away from the everyday and recalibrate – and recalibrate I did.

I feel like I’ve come back from China a new woman; my confidence has grown, I feel more successful than ever and I’m generally very happy. I’ve forged a new image for myself and I’m loving the skin I’m in!

Doja in China

So while I was in China, I reached 10,000 subscribers on YouTube! How amazing! Except I couldn’t even post a video to say thank you to everyone because of censorship laws and whatnot… So being the awkward being I am, it’ll have to be a 11,000 subscriber thank you video 😉 I will also be doing a giveaway so keep an eye out for that.

What next?

So since I’ve found partial YouTube fame I really need to start taking this whole sewing thing seriously. I’m pretty rubbish at consistency, so that could be something I work on first, maybe. But really, looking at the big picture, what’s next for Elewa?

I don’t know!

I like the idea of pursuing fashion design while doing my tutorials on the side. Perhaps one day having my own clothing line. Or even selling my own sewing patterns. To be honest, I think it is something I’ll have to figure out as I go along. I love the spontaneity of life and the surprises it brings with it! I’m happy to just go with the flow, for now.

Fashion design

As a pattern drafter, design is something that automatically comes with the territory. These past two years, I’ve kept my drafts relatively simple, sometimes not as creative as I know I can probably be. So I’ve started thinking about what image, what message, what style I want my designs to convey. I’ve thought a lot about this. And thought some more. And it has been difficult. How does one find their inspiration? How does one know the audience they want to target? How does one sum up oneself in clothes?

I don’t know!

All I know is that it’s time to push the boundaries of my stifled creativity and be the best designer and pattern drafter I can be. It’s going to be hard but I want to keep growing and learning and I’m willing to put in the work.

This is my time to shine.
